August 13, 2026 | 3:30PM – The Talbot Fire, burning on the Tahoe National Forest, is located off French Meadows Road, approximately four miles northeast of French Meadows Reservoir and 14 miles southeast of Truckee, California.

While prevailing winds have pushed smoke primarily to the northeast, the fire is likely to continue producing smoke in the greater North Tahoe/Truckee region, including Olympic Valley. Olympic Valley is not currently threatened by the fire, and there are no current evacuation orders or warnings affecting the eastern slope of the Sierra. The Olympic Valley Fire Department (OVFD) is closely monitoring the fire and coordinating with neighboring fire and public safety agencies.

The fire is being managed by the U.S. Forest Service with assistance from CAL FIRE. The Tahoe National Forest will provide incident updates on its Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TahoeNF/).

Active wildfires are always a good reminder to remain prepared. Residents are encouraged to maintain defensible space, regularly review evacuation protocols, check their Go Bags (one at home and one in their vehicle), familiarize themselves with emergency notification methods, and check in on neighbors who may need assistance.
