Olympic Valley Fire Department (OVFD) was established following the 1960 Winter Olympics. Prior to that, Fire and EMS services were provided by the California Department of Natural Resources. OVFD currently operates out of Station 21, a 14,000 ft./sq. structure built in 2004 that is centrally located in our district. Station 21 houses a fleet of eight apparatus that allow for rapid and diverse response.
Olympic Valley Fire Department is an ‘all-risk’ agency, providing fire suppression, technical rescue, and emergency medical services under an ‘ALS Engine Company’ (non-transport) format. As a Department under the Olympic Valley Public Service District, OVFD has 13 full-time suppression personnel (Fire Chief, three Captains, three Engineers, six Firefighters), and seasonal firefighters, with administrative services provided by District staff.
The Department responds to about 600 calls for service annually. We also participate in a very active and robust mutual aid system with responses spanning from regionally to statewide. We enjoy excellent support from our community and maintain that standing by providing exceptional customer service on each call.
